Is the Irving Las Colinas Marathon a Boston Qualifier?
We are continuing to work with the Boston Marathon to ensure we meet ALL of their criteria for entry. This has been an on-going process and as soon as we have a definitive answer from the B.A.A. we will let you know. -Thanks Pepsi Windland for the great question!
UPDATE 12/19
According to the BAA for a marathon event times to qualify we must meet the following:
- Must have a valid USA Track and Field certified marathon (26.2 miles)
- Must be run outdoors
- Must be 3 or more bonafide competitors
- Must be officially timed
We currently meet 3 of the 4 criteria. We are working with the City of Irving on completing the marathon course certification. After certification we will submit the course certification number to the BAA for final approval.
UPDATE 1/30
We should have the Half and the Full events measured by February 8th and paperwork delivered to our USATF representative that same day. Following, we will provide course certification numbers and additional requirements to BAA. Thanks everyone!
UPDATE 4/7
We have submitted ALL requested documentation to the BAA for approval. We are waiting for a response from our BAA representative. We WILL post this information ASAP.
If I complete the Half or the Full Marathon will I receive a medal?
Yes! If you complete either the half marathon or the full marathon you will receive a finishers medal. That's a whole lot of running and we want to celebrate that achievement with you! -Thanks Grace!
How long will the course stay open?
The course will remain open for 6.5 hours for official timing. We are working on extending that time for official timing and for runners who are purely interested in finishing. We are dependent upon permitting, course safety and awards presentations. We will keep you posted on any new developments. -Thanks for asking Leesa!
Can I wear earphones?
Yes, with the course being entirely on park property with no street crossing we are allowing earphones to be used during your event. Please keep in mind the potential hazards this could pose for first aid/medical responders trying to get your attention in the event of an emergency- please keep your head on a swivel and stay alert!
